A főbb problémakörökre... |

On the basis of our examinations we have come to the conclusion that longitudinal examinations are the simplest and most up-to-date methods as well as the most cost-efficient ones to follow the decision-making, preparatory data collecting, processing and analysing opportunities serving the sustainability of agriculture better and better together with tracing down the feedback about the decisions to see if the given measure has really resulted in reaching the objectives. The method was proved to be able to supply both micro-and macro-level information in the desired breakdown, groupings and systems of connections. The development successive (panel) examination that we applied can serve as the basis of making decisions affecting huge areas by means of total... |

Pork is a source of nutrients essential for the human body but still it is regarded by consumers as a non-healthy product. The main objective of the study was to analyse consumption patterns concerning pork products and to define alternative target markets in bigger Hungarian towns. In the course of the research, 494 people, representative of the base population, were questioned. According to the results obtained, the consumers’ opinion and the already formed image are less favourable regarding pork than poultry in almost all respects. Respondents regarded pork as an out-of-date, slightly boring and aging product. The applied cluster analysis identified five different consumer segments. Among them, rational young consumers represent the primary target... |

Asynchronous approval of new GM crops across international jurisdictions is of growing concern due to its potential impact on global trade. Different countries have different authorisation procedures and, even if regulatory dossiers are submitted at the same time, approval is not given simultaneously (in some cases, delays can even amount to years). For instance, by mid-2009 over 40 transgenic events were approved or close to approval elsewhere but not yet approved – or not even submitted – in the EU. Yet, like some other jurisdictions, the EU also operates a zero-tolerance policy to even the smallest traces of nationally unapproved GM crops (so-called low-level presence). The resultant rejection of agricultural imports has already caused high economic... |

There are several variations of efficiency definitions and of course ratios concerned with efficiency. A better understanding of the notion of efficiency is critical to dissolve ambiguity about it. Many confuse efficiency with other supposedly synonymous notions such as profitability, successfulness, competitiveness, liquidity or productivity. This ambiguity originates not only in subjective reasons, but the lack of hierarchical order among certain ideas. The primary driver in our research is, to systematize efficiency in general, and formulate a new categorical approach of the efficiency in corporate level. |

The Hungarian sheep sector has become a one-market sector, almost the whole amount of slaughter lamb went to Italy. It would worth to exploit possibilities in other European markets. Such markets can be the Spanish and Greek for ”light” and the French, German and English markets for ”heavy” lambs. The European lamb prices are characterized by large seasonal fluctuation and the degree and timing of changes are different. Due to these seasonal changes, the producers often suffer great losses. Study of the literature on lamb sales called for an analysis of price forecasting. In my study, I performed a forecasting of lamb prices in Hungary, Italy and Greek for the period between 1996 and 2007 based on the data of the European Committee. Among the forecasting... |

The continuous weakening of Hungarian sheep sector and its low effectiveness in terms of value added have posed crucial problems in recent years. The focal problem has been partially caused by economic and market problems. Among these issues, mostly the poor mutton supply chain gives rise to difficulties; therefore the present study seeks to reveal the factors/input variables which predominantly influence the generation of value added. We have constructed a model for the mutton product cycle to represent the relations of phases but mutton trade is not included. The most significant aim of our investigation was to identify the volume of value added generated during processing in various phases of the product cycle and the change of which inputs affected... |

This paper reviewed principally accepted methods applied to investment analysis. To describe every aspect of investment analysis fully would require far more space than available here, so we highlight only of few of its aspects. This study collects several well-known bibliographies, contrasts them with each other and provides explanations for having done so. There are many questions about which authors and companies agree, including about how to apply certain methods, but on others there is disagreement. Four dynamic methods (Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Profitability Index, and Discounted Payback Period) are demonstrated from the viewpoint of application. Moreover, this study clarifies several sensitive questions, such as handling income... |

A végső „minőségellenőr” végül is a fogyasz-tó. Kérdés csupán az, hogy a fogyasztói értékítélet mennyire jelenik meg az ér-téklánc korábbi szakaszainál, ki mit tehet, illetve tesz a minőség növelése érde-kében. Szinte feltáratlan mindezek mellett a minőség költségeinek kérdésköre, a gazdaságilag optimális minőség. A tanulmány problémafelvető a sertéshúsverti-kumban, de hasonló és részletesebb vizsgálatok... |

There is a well known saying: Research converts money into knowledge, innovation converts knowledge into money. The knowledge-based economy has four pillars: innovation, education, the economic and institutional regime, and information infrastructure. Transformation towards a knowledge-based economy will necessarily shift the proportion and growth of national income derived from knowledge-based industries, the percentage of the workforce employed in knowledge-based jobs and the ratio of firms using technology to innovate. Progress towards a knowledge-based economy will be driven by four elements: human capital development, knowledge generation and exploitation (R&D), knowledge infrastructure. Increased investment in these four areas will certainly have... |

The sharp fluctuations in agricultural commodity and food prices at a time of great uncertainty about the economic outlook illustrate the need to improve the functioning of the European food supply chain with a view to enhancing its efficiency and competitiveness. Better regulation and ensuring a vigorous and coherent enforcement of competition and consumer protection rules will contribute to limiting price increases for the benefit of European consumers, in particular lower income households. Moreover, it will also help overcome the present fragmentation of the food supply chain and remove artificial entry barriers for producers, which will help European consumers benefit from the widest possible choice of quality food products. Additionally, this could... |
